Idle Parliament

A parliamentary hearing for economy-related ministries is held Tuesday by the National Assembly’s special committee on budget and account, but is repeatedly disrupted by members of four opposition parties, including the main opposition Democratic Party. Opposition lawmakers boycotted the session in demanding a cut in the budget for the four-river restoration project or a recess was declared due to the debate between rival parties. Next year’s budget bills are seen piled up behind a lawmaker as he wraps his head in his hands in frustration over the interruptions and strife in parliament.
