The Korean Teachers and Educational Workers Union yesterday said it will nullify a teacher incentive plan by putting pressure on principals.
The union held a general assembly at the Korea Institute of Financial Investment in Asan, South Chungcheong Province over the weekend. It decided to use ways to marginalize principals who pursue a performance-based pay system and interfere with the unions attempts to render the plan ineffective.
The government grades a teachers performance A to C to enhance teacher competitiveness and pay them based on performance. Union teachers, however, collect all bonuses in a bank account and divide it among teachers evenly.
Regardless of the decision of the government evaluation committee, all unionized teachers receive an A.
