Russia`s 26-year-old pole vaulter Yelena Isinbayeva set a new world record in three years.
Isinbayeva set a world record of 5.03 meters at the IAAF Golden League meeting in Rome on Saturday night, breaking her past world record of 5.01 meters at the 2005 world championships in Helsinki, Finland.
She won the gold medal, while Monica Pyrek of Poland who jumped 0.28 meters lower than Isinbayeva followed her.
Breaking the world record in June 2003 on a 4.82-meter fly, she has set 12 world records outdoors and 10 indoors. She said that she had technical difficulties, but she regained her top condition that day.
