
On December 30, 2007, policemen beat demonstrators against the re-election of President Mwai Kibaki with clubs in the Mathare slum in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi. In the presidential election held on December 27, Kenyas incumbent president Mwai Kibaki was re-elected. However, the opposition party argued that the president was involved in election fraud. The death toll has reached 20, including seven shot by the police.
