British defense contractor QinetiQ released on Sunday a demo video clip showing its Zephyr High Altitude Long Endurance (HALE) Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) flying over New Mexico on July 23. It flew a record 54 hours without any refueling stops. It fueled itself off the solar batteries mounted on its 18m wings. The International Civil Aviation Organization has not acknowledged the new record, citing its absence during the test.
