Championship Title Just Around the Corner for In-Kyung Kim

LPGA rookie In-Kyung Kim, who is just 19, will face off against one of the world’s leading players, Lorena Ochoa from Mexico.

Kim finished the third round of the Wegman’s LPGA tourney held at Locust Hill Country Club in New York yesterday, and ranked second just one stroke behind Ochoa. Kim shot a 1-under 71, for a total score of 8-under 208. Kim was led paired with Korean female golfer Mi Hyun Kim in the second round.

After her brief career on the national team in 2004, In-Kyung flew to America to learn more in 2005. The world began to pay attention to Kim after she won three consecutive amateur championships and the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship. After starting her pro career last year, she continued her promising climb up the rankings with a 4th place finish in the LPGA Corning Classic last May.

“I know Lorena Ochoa is a wonderful player. I will just do my best. Then, there will be no regrets,” says Kim. Mi Hyun Kim, on the other hand, fell off the pace by three strokes and slid back to the fourth place.
