Supernova SN-2006gy in galaxy NGC1260, 240 million light-years away from the galaxy we live in, exploded, emitting the brightest light ever. The explosiveness recorded was the greatest among the explosions of supernovas so far and at the peak of the explosion, the supernova was as bright as 50 billion suns added together, said Americas National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) on May 7. Photos of the explosion (left), infrared rays (top right), and X-rays (bottom right) revealed by NASA.
