The government judged that the meeting of Unification Minister Chung Dong-young and North Korean leader Kim Jong Il paved the way to resume the six-way talks aimed to resolve the North Korean nuclear issue and started to prepare follow-up measures, rushing senior government officials to the nations participating in the talks.

Minister Chung met Christopher Hill, U.S. assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific affairs, in Seoul, to explain the results of the meeting with the North Korean leader Kim.
