On the first day of the secondary tournament of the Jack Field Cup Handball Tournament 2004~2005, the Korea National Sport University (KNSU) team caused a great commotion by beating Chungcheong Hana Bank, a veteran industrial team.

Thanks to goal-keeper Park Chan-young’s great defense and offensive players Lee Sang-wook and Kim Min-koo making six goals each, KNSU defeated Chungcheong Hana Bank 26-25 on January 4.

KNSU’s extraordinary play was forecasted since the beginning of the game when it grappled with Chungcheong Hana Bank, the champion of the general division. Strong straight-line defense and Park Chan-young’s extraordinary defense held down the Chungcheong Hana Bank 16-16, and after eight minutes into the second half, Park Joong-gyu (five points) successfully scored a point, followed by Lee Sang-wook scoring two more points.

Afterwards, KNSU only lost three points in 13 minutes, and Lee Sang-wook, Park Joong-gyu, and Kim Hwan-sung each made a goal consecutively. The score was 25-19 at seven minutes before the end of the match, and KNSU’s victory seemed untouched.

In the B group of women’s division, Busan Facility Management Public Corporation, ranked second in the primary tournament, won the first match, defeating Daegu City Hall, which ranked third in the primary tournament, 27-23. Huh Young-sook led the team’s victory, making seven points just in the second half of the game.
