Diplomats from Eight Countries of Residence in North Korea Arrive in Pyongyang

Diplomats from eight countries of residence in North Korea, including David Slin, the U.K.’s ambassador, left for Pyongyang on the morning of September 16 on a chartered planed to visit the explosion site in Kim Hyong-jik County, Yanggang Province.

An English diplomat to North Korea said in an interview with Agence France-Presse (AFP), “The visiting team will travel for an hour on a small propeller plane and three hours in a car to the explosion site.”

Polish Ambassador to North Korea Wojciech Kaluza sent a Polish diplomat to the site and said, “The visiting team is scheduled to return to Pyongyang at 6 p.m. However, the return might be delayed due to bad weather conditions.” Officials in the German Embassy pointed out that the team did not bring a radiation detector with them. The visiting team led by Ambassador Siln includes diplomats from England, Germany, Poland, Russia, Sweden, Czech Republic, India, and Mongolia.
