China Appointed Wu Da Wei to Asia Director Post

Posted August. 20, 2004 22:52,

The Chinese Foreign Affairs Ministry yesterday nominated the current Chinese Ambassador to Japan Wu Da Wei (58), who had previously been the Ambassador to South Korea, as director of the Asian region (a vice-ministerial level position). The Ministry also nominated Wang Yi (51), the current delegation leader of six-way talks, for the Ambassador to Japan position.

The newly-appointed director Wu is likely to take charge of the delegation leader of the six-way talks following the former director Wang.

Born in Heilung Giang City, Wu spent four years from 1998∼2001 in Korea as the Chinese ambassador, and is widely known for being well-versed in Korea and China relations and having a deep understanding of Korea.
