Messenger Launched Yesterday

Following the Mars and Saturn expeditions, a seven-year Mercury exploration project has been initiated. At 2:15:56 a.m. on August 3, NASA’s Mercury exploration project was initiated after its Messenger probe was launched from Florida’s Cape Canaveral. After a 7.9 billion kilometer journey to Mercury, Messenger is scheduled to reach Mercury’s orbit on March 2011. Messenger will orbit Mercury for one year, relaying valuable information back to Earth.
