On July 15, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade announced that four North Korean escapees, who entered a German school possessing a weapon in Beijing, China on June 30 and passed over to the Chinese police, were released and will arrive in Korea on July 16 on behalf of the German side’s requirement and concerns of taking “humanitarian actions.”

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Shin Bong-gil announced on this day, “We highly evaluate the German government’s humanitarian actions of actively assisting their entrance to Korea,“ and added, “However, the incident of North Korean escapees using threatening measures, including weapons and entering foreign official residence, should not be repeated.”
