Senator John Kerry, the impending Democratic Party presidential candidate, announced on March 16 that when he wins the presidential election in November, he will find ways to resume the bilateral talks with North Korea, which was discontinued by President George W. Bush.

At the Veterans Town Hall Meeting in West Virginia, the senator emphasized that the talks geared toward negotiations, which was started by the former president, Bill Clinton, and carried out by former Defense Secretary William Perry, should not be suspended. Senator Kerry went on to add that he would address the issues about the nuclear weapons as well as all other necessary issues at the negotiations with North Korea, including allocation and assignment of troops and the issues of the POWs and the MIAs.
