Yoon Ji-hye of the Korea Horse Racing Association, who has been anonymous so far, defeated the popular senior table tennis players and joined the womens national table tennis team, which is scheduled to participate in the 2004 Athens Olympics. Yoon Ji-hye, who has spent four years of her career as a professional table tennis player, on January 16 recorded eight wins and one loss at the representative selective table tennis tournament held in Taerueng Gymnasium. The top two players were selected as the countrys representative athletes. In addition, Kim Moo-gyo of Korean Airlines, who resigned in March but returned after six months, grasped the second place position with 12 wins and three losses to make a powerful comeback. In the mens division, Kim Taek-soo of KT&G, and Kim Jung-hoon and Joo Se-hyuk of Sangmoo recorded seven wins and two losses each, but Kim Taek-soo and Kim Jung-hoon, who earned more points than Joo Se-hyuk, were selected at the end. The four table tennis player selected on this day were: Oh Sang-eun and Yoo Seung-min of Samsung Card, Kim Kyung-a of Korean Airlines, and Lee Eun-sil of Samsung Card. They will participate in the world tournament, scheduled to be held in Qatar in March, and in the Athens Olympics.
