The prosecution, who is investigating South Korean-German scholar Song Du-yul, summoned Song on October 10 for its fourth time for questioning of the scholar on whether his books and papers such as “Is this the End of History?” and “Seeking for the Theory of Reunification” are publications which are designed to benefit the enemy. These publications have contents supporting the North`s central ideas.

The prosecution also investigated details of his dissident activity such as openly opposing South Korea from holding the 1988 Seoul Olympics via a lecture in Germany.

A prosecution official said, "The publications are the main evidence to find out Song’s true intentions. We received his scripts from scientific meetings and are thoroughly examining them to see whether or not he is a pro-North Korea activist or a devotee of communism."

The prosecution stopped investigation of Song to allow him to attend “The Meeting of Korean Philosophers in 2003” which was held in Sogang University. They will summon Song again on October 11 for more questioning.

Indictment seems inevitable because this criminal charge is serious, although it is unclear if he will reflect on this or will renounce his views.

Meanwhile, the Justice Minister, Kang Kum-sil said at the inspection of the Justice Department conducted by the National Assembly, "I said that it was impossible to punish Song on September 24. It was not a timely remark, and such carelessness can cause misunderstanding. I apologize for that"
