Laura Davis (UK) lowered her head at last.

At the second round of Kolong Cup the 46th Korea Open Golf Championship (total prize of 500 million won), held at Ujong Hills CC (par 72, 7042 yards) in Chon-An, Chungnam on October 10, Davis finished with a 5-over par score, 77 strokes totaling 11-over par and 155 strokes and cut off. With this, the five challenges by the best women golfers in participating against male golfers, starting from Annika Sorenstam (Sweden), were all in vain this year.

Davis, reputed with her long drive in women’s golf and referred to as “a female John Daly”, had difficulties dealing with ‘distance’. Especially on short par-3 holes, with three of the four par-3 holes over 215 yards, she experienced her limitations and committed three bogeys.

The only hole which Davis birdied this day was the 11th hole, a downhill par 5 hole (494 yards). She shot over the green with her second shot, brought 3 on close 1m to hole-cup, achieving a birdie.

Davis said after match, “I learned a lot. I’m not satisfied and I want to try it again. The pin settings were still difficult, and the balls rolled so fast on the green so I couldn’t cut down the score.”

John Daly (USA), competing the “gender fight” with Davis for two days, finished with a 3 under-par, 69 strokes score to finish ranking tied at 4th (2 under-par, 142 strokes) with Kim Jong-Duk (Living Toy), who hit the best score of the day with a 6 under-par 66 strokes mark. Heo Suk-ho (Lee Dong-su fashion, ASX) easily qualified with a total 1 over-par 145 stokes mark. (at 4:30 in the afternoon)

In the meantime, Lee Sun-ho (27), finished at 2nd (4 under par 68 strokes) on a previous day, was halted with an even par 72 score but took the lead (4 under par 140 strokes), Oh Tae-gun (team Asyworth), who lead on the first day, gained 2 strokes to draw back and finish the day tied in 2nd (3 under par 141 strokes).
