The National Intelligence Service (NIS) decided to close its questioning Professor Song, Du-yul (59) at Muenster University in Germany on his alleged pro-North activities, and forward the case to the prosecution on October 1.
It is reported that the NIS decided to deliver its suggestion postpone or not to prosecute Song at the prosecution office, based upon the regulations on national security law violators. The NIS` decision was presumably affected by Song`s submission of his letter of pledge to obey the laws and regulations along with his plan to make a public apology.
The NIS notified us of its forwarding the Song`s case on October 1, said Park, Mahn, vice chief prosecutor at Seoul prosecutors` Office during a press conference held yesterday. He also added to say, It is certain for us to take over Song`s case without arrest as far as the matter has not been discussed yet. And it is not certain in what form his case will take at the prosecution office.
Final decision will be made over the case after through review over relevant records and evidence, said park, adding, Professor Song will be summoned at least for one time.
He noted, Nothing has been decided yet over whether to indict him or how to finalize the case.
It is likely that the prosecution summon and examine Song within this week and reach the final conclusion by the weekend at the earliest.
