Super Peanut Kim Mi-hyun (25, KTF) is relishing her second LPGA championship victory in two weeks, earning the $150,000 prize to break through the $1 million mark.
On the third day of the U.S. LPGA Tour Wendys Championship held in Dublin Tartan Fields GC in Ohio on August 5, Kim, who came back from a week-long break after winning the Giant Eagle Classic on June 22, slumped with one over par and 73 shots seemingly feeling pressure about scoring another victory.
She, however, managed to hold the championship cup by leading Han Hee-won (24, FILA Korea) who shot an eight-under-par 208 by a narrow margin of one shot. This is the fourth time that Korean players take the first and the second place in a U.S. LPGA championship.
The group of young Korean women also set a record by sweeping the latest three U.S. LPGA opens in three weeks earlier Kim Mi-hyon won Giant Eagle Classic and Koala Park Hui-jung Big Apple Classic.
Earning $150,000 with the fifth win, Kim climbed the fourth place in the money list at $837,147 following Park Se-ri who ranked the third with $853,182.
Han Hee-won came back strong on the last day with 2 under par and 70 shots, but came short of overtaking Kim finishing second twice in a row.
