Korean golfer Pak se-ri, 25, became the youngest woman to claim four majors with her victory at LPGA Championship sponsored by 2002McDonald(prize totales 1.5million dollars). Pak defeated Beth Daniel from the United States, turning a four-shot deficit into a three-shot victory in the final round Sunday. Pak finished at 5-under 279, Daniel at 2-under 282.
Pak who turns 25 on September 28, became the youngest woman to claim four majors, surpassing Mickey Wright, who was 25 when she won her fourth of 13 majors at the 1960 LPGA Championship.
She lived up to her reputation as `Queen of Golf`, winning LPGA championship which she won as a rookie in 1998. This game gave her the second victory this year, following the victory at DuPont last April. During her 5 year career, she won 15 times in a total. She became second only to Sorenstam in prize money(526886$), adding 225000$.
Pak started the final round with four strokes behind Daniel who tried to become the oldest major champion in LPGA history. The turning point came at 10(par 4), when Pak marked her third birdie, leading Daniel by one stroke. Daniel bogeyed 2 times in 12, 13 holes, allowing Pak 3 stroke lead. At 14(par 4), Pak`s vitory became apparent, with her rare 250 meter birdie, keeping 4 stoke lead.
