The Grand National Party reiterated its demand for appointment of special counselors on the suspicious power circle irregularities of three sons of President Kim Dae-Jung as the party held large-scale outdoor demonstrations in Daegu and Busan on May 8.
Party candidate Lee Hoi-Chang said, `Now the regime is not collapsing, but our country is in a state of tumbling-down,` and added, `Let`s win landslide in the June local elections and overturn this debased, corrupt, and crime-ridden regime.`
Active party president Park Kwan-Yong urged, `If President Kim wants to keep neutral in politics and devote in state affairs, he should not only step down all cabinet members to establish a neutral emergency cabinet, but also immediately fire the presidential chief of staff Park Jie-Won, director of the National Intelligence Service (INS) Shin Kuhn, and Rep. Sul Hoon of the Millennium Democratic Party (MDP).`
GNP spokesperson Nam Kyung-Pil said, `The appointment of special counselors is inevitable in order to expose the truth of recorded audiotapes in which Choi Kyu-Sun said the Blue House urged him to stow away the country by ship,` and demanded, `The prosecution should question both Hong-Gul, the third son of President Kim, and First Lady Lee Hee-Ho in relation to a meeting between Hong-Gul and chairman of POSCO Yoo Sang-Bu.`
