Borrowed-Name Bank Account of Mr. Kim Sung- Hwan, To Be Handed Over To The Prosecution.

`Lee Yong-Ho Gate` Special prosecutor team (SP) identified that President Kim Dae Jung`s second son Kim Hong –up, Vice president of Kim Dae-Jung Peace Foundation for the Asia- Pacific region managed 500 million won personally, last December end and gave it to the H company, which was construction company, for construction expenditure.

SP is focusing its investigation on where the money came from, considering the possibility that the money might have came from a borrowed- name bank account that had 1 billion won and was managed by Mr. Kim Sung-Hwan, a high school classmate and ROTC of Vice- President Kim.

SP also identified that 5 billion won contract, including additional tax, bears mention in the audit report of H company, but on the contrary foundation stated that it contracted for 7 billion won, therefore, SP is also looking into the difference of 2 billion won.

However, SP decided to wind up the investigation on it within this week and hand it over to the prosecution, as its term expires on 25th.

Official of the foundation said regarding this,“ vice president Kim brought 500 checks of 1 million won and the foundation paid it to H company as contract money” and `however, we do not know where the money came from`.

The foundation concerned urged, saying “original contract expenditure was 5 billion won, however, additional amount was spent on public work, therefore, we increased 2 million won last April.”

SP is focusing on tracking telephone conversation of Former Prosecutor General, Shin Seung- Nam, and Kim Dae-Woong, Chief prosecutor at Gwangju High Public Prosecutor’s office, who is revealed to have called up Lee Soo- Dong, former executive of the foundation, several times.

However, as Mr. Lee Soo- Dong refuses steadily to mention the name of the official, who leaked the information, it is hard to investigate after summon.

SP will report Cheong Wa Dae after making final investigation report which will comprehend all result of the investigation on 25th.
