The Grand National Party (GNP) urged the prosecution to investigate the speculation-suspicion of former Construction and Transportation minister Ahn Jung-Nam on the 24th.

GNP also decided to commence an internal investigation through its fact- finding special committee.

GNP is to raise suspicions about Mr. Ahn in February’s special session of the National Assembly, and if there is no sincere attempt to examine the truth, follow-up measures such as protest visit to the prosecution will be taken.

Secretary general Lee Sang-Deuk said, "If the present administration does not thoroughly investigate persons in power who are suspected of corruption, including former minister Ahn, the next administration must re-investigate them."

Head deputy spokesman Jang Kwang-Kun criticized, "Various suspicions were raised against former minster Ahn, who led the operation of press annihilation during his term as National Tax Service director, but the prosecution did not reveal any details under the excuse of his resignation."
