General Shin’s Resignation Accepted… Selection for Successor Begins

Supreme Public Prosecutor General Shin Seung-Nam handed in his resignation at the Chong Wa Dae through the Ministry of Justice on the 14th. His brother is arrested under charges connected to the `Lee Yong Ho- scandal`, for which he feels responsible.

President Kim Dae-Jung accepted his resignation and the Chong Wa Dae, along with the Justice department, is seeking a new successor.

General Shin called for a meeting at the prosecution’s office on this day and said, "It is with regret that I leave a burden in the office after working honestly for 36 years." As the resignation is accepted, the prosecution plans to open his retirement ceremony on the 15th.
