Korean Bar Association nominated two attorneys Kim Sung-Gi(60) and Cha Jung-Il (59) for special prosecutor to investigate the `Lee Yong-Ho` case.
Mr. Kim graduated from Seoul National University and passed the 16th bar exam. He started his judiciary career as a judge in the Seoul District Court and became an attorney in 1973. He served as a judge in the Kwangju High Court from 1980 and a chief judge of Seoul District Court before he resigned in 1987. He was also a president of Seoul Bar Association in 1995.
Mr. Cha also graduated from Seoul National University and passed the 8th bar exam. He began his career as a prosecutor in Pusan in 1973. He was a head of Yoju Prosecutors Office, Director of the 4th Central Investigation Bureau of the Prosecutor-General`s Office, and Director of the Trial Bureau in Seoul Prosecutors Office before he opened his own law office in 1990.
Ha Chang-Woo, spokesperson of KBA, said, "we considered the personality and capability to carry out an independent and fair investigation as the priority for the nomination, excluding regional or school connections. One of the two is the most recommended among the 20 candidates by 86 attorneys over the nation."
According to the Special Prosecutor Law, President will appoint one of the two nominated by KBA by Dec. 2nd.
