Cha Doo-Ri Continues Legend of Cha-Bum

Son of `Brown Bomber` Cha Bum-Keun, former head coach of the Korean national team, Cha Doo-Ri (Korea University) was selected as a member of the Hiddink squad.

Head Coach Guus Hiddink announced yesterday the roster of 28 players who will be playing in three evaluation games of the national team scheduled next month. It was Cha Doo-Ri, a son of all-time best attacker Cha Bum-Keun, who attracted the most attention among the national team members.

Cha Doo-Ri had been included in the ready troops of the national team at the beginning of this month, in which he had proved his ability throughout the tests. Cha Doo-Ri made a goal with an explosive middle-range shoot and showed the several impressive performances in the practice game with the national team, so that he could captivate Head Coach Hiddink`s heart.

In addition to Cha Doo-Ri, Cho Sung-Hwan (Suwon Samsung), Lee Jung-Woon (Pohang Steelers), Shin Dong-Keun (Yonsei University), and Hyun Young-Min (Konkuk University) were included for the first time in the national team. With a stable defense and mature game management ability beyond his years, high school graduate Cho Sung-Hwan became a starting member in the Suwon Samsung, and then was finally selected in the national team. And Lee Jung-Woon, Shin Dong-Keun and Hyun Young-Min have a quick speed, because of which their potentials are highly evaluated.

Playing with the existing members, the new national team members including Cha Doo-Ri are scheduled to get a test from Hiddink through the evaluation games.

Meanwhile, this national team roster also included many overseas players such as Hwang Sun-Hong, Yoo Sang-Cheol (Kasiwa), Choi Yong-Su (Ichihara), An Jung-Hwan (Perugia, Italy), Seol Ki-Hyun (Anderlecht, Belgium), and Shim Jae-Won (Frankfurt, Germany).

Besides, goal keeper Lee Woon-Jae (Sangmu), Kim Yong-Dae (Yonsei University), midfielder Lee Young-Pyo (Anyang), forward Kim Do-Hoon (Chonbuk Hyundai) joined the national team as regular crews of the Hiddink squad, but goal keeper Kim Byung-Ji (Pohang Steelers) was excluded.

The national team members will be summoned on 2nd next month, and will play games with Senegal on 8th (Jeonju), and Croatia on 10th and 13th(Seoul).
