Rental Housing to Be Provided to Fifty Thousand Households

As early as by the end of the year 2005, new mini-cities will be established in eight places including Kiheung-Eup and Seohchul-Ri of Yong-In city in Kyong-gi province, and by the end of the year 2006, in Youngjong-Do, Incheon. The Ministry of Construction and Transportation announced on the 20th that it is planning to build by the year 2003 national rental houses for two hundred thousand households, and designate nine places (five million forty five thousand p`yong) in Kyong-gi province as housing development sites in order to procure sites necessary to build housings for three hundred thirty thousand households every year.

The Ministry of Construction and Transportation is planning to designate as housing sites eight places including Osan Segyo as citizen exhibitions until the end of this year, and Youngjong, Incheon by the first half of next year. In particular, the consideration of the Inquiry Committee for Housing Policy concerning Seochon, Yong-In and Go-Eup, Yangjoo territories are nearing its end and it seems that these territories will be specified as housing development sites by the end of this month. The Ministry of Construction and Transportation stated that, ``If we are able to designate eight housing development sites of four hundred and forty seven thousand p`yong as planned, then we are able to procure a total of seven hundred and fifty thousand p`yong this year including the Dongtan Hwasung territory.``
