No Longer Need to Submit Certified Copy of Resident Registration to Government Organizations

It is no longer necessary to submit the certified copy or the abridged transcript of resident registration to the most government organizations, such as ward office and town office, beginning in January next year. People can also pay or report taxes through the Internet beginning in November next year.

Special committee on the electronic government under the government reform committee, which is a consultative committee under the direct control of President, announced `plan on the service of the electronic government ` yesterday.

Ahn Moon-Suk (Professor of Administration at Korea University), the chair of the special committee on the electronic government, said that ``the government plans to improve the administration service starting the electronic government service beginning in next January.``

Accordingly, as the confirmation system for the resident registration is established in the government institutions commencing next January, the government organizations will not require the certified copy or the abridged transcript of resident registration to issue the civil affair documents or certificates. 50 kinds of civil affair documents that require no identification process, such as the certified copy of land register, can be requested through the Internet.

Since the government organizations can directly verify the information, such as the full payment of the national tax and the certificate of business registration, people do not have to visit tax office for the issuing of verification. Moreover, as the `Home Tax Service` initiated by the National Tax Service is to begin gradually beginning early next year, tax report, tax payment and tax counseling can be completed through the Internet in November next year.

Along with this, as the computation networks of the four social insurance management organizations, such as the health insurance, the national pension, employment insurance and the workpeople accident compensation insurance, are to be united by the end of July next year, common operations, which are applied to various insurances, such as policyholders, changes and registration, will be performed together. People can directly confirm the contents of admission, premium, contents of payment and contents of allowance through the Internet electronic civil affair windows.
