Mobile Phone Charge To Be Lowered On Oct.

The government will lower the mobile phone charge as early as October regardless of the strong objection of the wireless communication business circles.

An official of the Ministry of Finance & Economy told that ``the mobile phone companies have opposed to the reduction due to the accumulated deficit, and the government will cut the mobile phone charges as planned according to the consumers` demand``.

``The Ministry of Information & Communication has analyzed the original price of each mobile phone company after receiving the accounting balance data from the companies. The mobile phone charge will be cut as early as October through the public hearing at the beginning of September,`` said the official.

Among three wireless communication companies such as the SK Telecom, KTF, LG Telecom, especially, the LG Telecom is strongly opposing to the plan to reduce the mobile phone for the necessity of the recovery of the investment. The LG Telecom recorded the surplus for the first time in the first quarter of this year since the company was established.
