President Kim Dae-Jung held a summit with visiting Czech Prime Minister Milos Zeman at Cheong Wa Dae Friday to exchange views on ways of promoting economic cooperation and other matters of mutual concern. During the talks, Kim thanked Zeman for the Czech Republic`s support for Seoul`s efforts to promote peace on the Korean peninsula and the Czech premier pledged that his government would maintain its backing.

The leaders of the two countries agreed to take joint steps to sign a social security pact, open a room focusing on Korea this year at the Czech National Museum, and promote youth exchanges between the two nations.

The two leaders also agreed to conclude the Korea-Czech Atomic Energy Cooperation Agreement as part of efforts to step up mutual cooperation in the atomic energy sector, with a focus on the technology for producing radioactive isotopes for medical use.
