`JSA` wins four Blue Dragon Awards

Director Park Chan-Wook¡¯s blockbuster film ¡°JSA (Joint Security Area)¡± won four top prizes at the 21st Blue Dragon Awards on Friday at the National Theater in Seoul. The movie, which concerns a fictitious incident that takes place in the Joint Security Area at the truce village of Panmunjom, earned the awards for Best Film, Director, Cinematography (Kim Seong-Bok) and Supporting Actor

(Shin Ha-Kyun).

JSA stars Lee Byung-Hun and Song Gang-Ho were in the running for the Best Actor prize, but ended up losing to Seol Kyong-Koo of director Lee Chang-Dong¡¯s ¡°Bakha Satang (Peppermint Candy),¡± which also received the Best Screenplay Award. JSA won the award for biggest box-office.

The Best Actress Award went to Lee Me-Yeun, who played an insane woman in ¡°Pisces.¡±

The award for Best First-time Director, which saw a fiercely competitive race, went to Ryu Seung-Whan for the low budget entry ¡°Die Bad, 2000.¡±
