Elementary and middle school heads to decide on vacation time

Beginning next year, principals of elementary and middle schools will be able to freely decide on vacations and holidays. This is expected to result in vacation periods varying among schools. In addition, to prepare for the implementation of a 5-day workweek, 33 elementary and middle schools are testing out a 5-day school week scheme.

The Ministry of Education revealed that a bill to amend the elementary/middle school education law is to be passed that will enable school heads to decide on vacations and holidays depending on local

circumstances.
