F5E fighter missing on exercise

An F5E fighter that belongs to the Republic of Korea Air Force 3155 Unit went missing Wednesday during a training exercise over the East Sea, some 25 miles (40km) southeast of Kangnung City, Kangwon Province, at around 4:09 p.m. Wednesday.

The fighter was piloted by Capt. Cho Jin-Hwan, 29.

The Air Force dispatched two HH60 rescue helicopters to the area on a search mission and found some debris floating in the sea, so the authorities presumed that the aircraft has crashed.

The Air Force also dispatched an investigation team to the place where the accident apparently occurred. In the day's training, two fighters made a formation flight, and one of them returned safely.
