Nine minutes into overtime to break a 1-1 tie, a razor-sharp pass from Hong Myung-Bo connected with No Jung-Yoon toward the right side of the penalty-kick area. A short pass by No placed the ball in the path of Lee Dong-Guk, running toward the goal-posts. Looking squarely into the eyes of the goalkeeper, Lee tapped the ball with this left feet, sending the ball into the net.

South Korea, in the quarterfinal matchup with Iran at the Tripoli Olympic Stadium in Lebanon for the Asian Cup 2000, beat Iran 2-1 in a dramatic comeback.

Overcoming incredible obstacles, South Korea made the final eight and beat Iran, sort of a pay back for the humiliating 6-2 defeat that South Korea experienced four years ago in the same quarterfinal game with Iran.

Lee Dong-Guk has so far recorded four goals in the tournament including a hat trick in the game with Indonesia and is tied for first for greatest number of goals.

Korea had given up a goal 26 minutes into the second half to a 30 meter shot by Bageri and obtained the tying goal seconds before the end of game by Kim Sang-Shik.
