Among elected candidates in the 16th general election, 40 National Assembly representatives or their campaign managers who are indicted or targeted for election-law violations as of Wednesday could lose their titles depending on the outcome of the court verdict.
The Supreme Public Prosecutor¡¯s Office announced that it had indicted six additional National Assembly representatives without confinement related to he 16th general election.
The six indicted representatives are the Grand National Party¡¯s Kim Boo-Kyum (Kyonggi Kunpo), Nam Kyung-Pil (Kyonggi Suwon Paldal), Ahn Young-Keun (Inchon Nameul); and the Millennium Democratic Party¡¯s Song Young-Gil (Inchon Kaeyang), Park Yong-Ho (Inchonseo Kangwhaeul), and Sim Kyu-Sub (Kyonggi Ansong).
Consequently, out of 125 elected candidates charged with election law violations (GNP 58, MDP 59 and United Liberal Democrats 8), 15 from the GNP, nine from the MDP and one from the ULD, totaling 25, have been indicted without confinement. This is 15 people more from the 10 charged after the 15th general election.
