Korea, the United States and Japan will hold a meeting of the Trilateral Coordination and Oversight Group (TCOG) Saturday in Washington, the Foreign Affairs-Trade Ministry disclosed Wednesday.
At the meeting, the three allies are expected to assess recent inter-Korean developments, including the South-North defense ministers' talks, the third round of bilateral ministerial talks and the talks between Kim Gye-Gwan, North Korea's vice foreign minister, and Charles Kartman, U. S, special envoy on Korean affairs.
In addition, they will exchange views on the projected visit to Washington by Cho Myong-Rok, first deputy chairman of the North Korean Defense Commission. Attending the TCOG meeting will be Chang Jae-Ryong, assistant foreign minister; Wendy Sherman, U. S. State Department councilor; and Yukio Takeuchi, a director-general of the Japanese Foreign Ministry.
