North Korean Foreign Minister Paek Nam-Sun is known to have sent a message on Sunday to U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright regarding the cancellation of a trip to New York by Kim Young-Nam, chairman of the Presidium of the North Korean Supreme People's Assembly, due to alleged ¡°rude¡± treatment from a U.S. airliner. A source from the foreign affairs ministry in Seoul revealed that North Korean foreign minister Paek sent a reply containing positive comments on the way the U.S. handled the matter after receiving a letter from U.S. secretary of state Madeline Albright expressing regret for the incident.
In addition, North Korea and the U.S. have started discussing issues related to removing North Korea from the U.S. list of terrorism sponsoring nations through the U.N. and arranging a visit by Advisor to the U.S. State Department Wendy Sherman to Pyongyang.
