From noon on September 9, the day before the Chuseok(Korean Thanksgiving) holidays begin, until midnight on September 13, when they end, a system that provides lanes exclusively for the use of buses will be implemented on the Gyeongbu Highway in both directions between Seocho and Shintanjin Interchanges.
On August 28, the National Police Agency announced its Special Transportation Management Plan for the Korean Thanksgiving holiday, and stated that a total of 28.83 million people nationwide (an estimated increase of 3.99% over last year) will be travelling during this period. There will be a total of 15.99 million vehicles on the nation`s highways (an estimated increase of 16.5% over last year).
According to the police`s transportation management plan, the two-way bus lane system will be implemented from noon on September 9 until midnight on September 13 for ordinary national roads that are connected to highways, such as the Gyeongbu highway sections between Seocho and Shintanjin IC, Gangnam Express Terminal and Banpo IC, Southern Cross-Country Bus Terminal and
Seocho IC, and so forth.
Also, during the same period, the bus lane system will be enforced in the sections between the city center, where express buses for the Yeongdong line and the Honam line depart and arrive, and the Jamwon IC, as well as between the Banpo IC and city center, limited to the direction of traffic. The bus lane system will be also implemented for the period between highway toll gates and respective regional express terminals in Busan, Daegu, Daejeon, Cheonan and Gwangju.
