Ten vice-ministers reshuffled

President Kim appointed Vice Chairman of the Financial Supervisory Commission Lee Jung-Jae as the new vice minister of finance and economy, and head of the military procurement office at the Defense Ministry, Moon Il-Sup, as vice minister of defense today. There was a reshuffling of eight other vice minister positions as well.

Jang Suk-Joon, budget office head at the Planning and Budget Ministry, was appointed as vice minister of Health and Welfare, and Kang Kil-Boo, head of the Korea Appraisal Board, was picked as vice minister of Construction and Transportation. Kim Byong-Il, supply administration chief, was named vice minister of Planning and Budget. Head of General Services at the Fair Trade Commission Kim Byong-Il was promoted to vice chairman, and the Executive Director in charge of special events and site preparations for the Asia-Europe Meeting, Jung Keun-Yong, was appointed as vice chairman of the Financial Supervisory Commission. Vice head of the Korean Industrial Property Office Lim Nae-Kyu was promoted to head of the office.

Kim Sung-Ho, head of the Seoul Regional Tax Office, was named as the new Supply Administration Chief, and Yang Kyu-Hwan, Korea Food and Drug Administration Commissioner, was named as head of the National Institute of Toxicological Research. Om Nak-Yong, vice-minister of finance and economy, was tapped as governor of the Korea Development Bank. Chong Wa Dae spokesman Park Joon-Young said that recommendations from the head of each ministry were taken into consideration in the appointments to enhance teamwork and that capable people with expertise in their fields were picked for the job. President Kim plans to replace two Chong Wa Dae spokesmen next week, after Liberation Day.
