Two Korean students from the Political Science Department of Sookmyung Women¡¯s University and Seoul National University`s International Relations Department will represent the nation in the Model United Nations General Assembly slated for August 11-13 in New York to celebrate the new millennium.
It will be the first time in UN history for students from more than 140 nations to attend the meeting. The topics for discussion in the plenary session will include UN peacekeeping operations and the removal of landmines. Standing committee meetings will also be held on important global issues such as environmental protection and balanced economic development. The students¡¯ resolutions will be presented to heads of 162 nations at the UN Millennium Summit during September 6-8.
