Typhoon no. 6, Bolaben, which is moving northwards, will not hit the Korean peninsula, instead just bypassing the nation`s east coast.
On the 30th, the Meteorological Administration said in a forecast that Bolaben was moving northwards at a speed of 19km/h from a point 210 km away from Cheju-do as of 3 pm. It also predicted that by 3 pm on the 31st the typhoon will have reached an area 260 km east of Kangreung.
According to the Meteorological Administration, Bolaben has weakened to a tropical storm, but vacationers on the east and south coasts should still take the necessary precautions as rain and strong winds are expected.
In the Youngnam region, 40-80mm of rain (up to 100mm in some areas) is expected, and 20-60mm is forecast for the Kangwon coastline.
The weather should improve from the afternoon of the 31st as the typhoon moves further away from the Korean peninsula.
