First lady Lee adopts Chinese pop singer

First Lady Lee Hee-Ho adopted Sun We, a top Chinese pop singer, as her daughter during her visit to China at the end of June, a Beijing newspaper reported Tuesday.

Lee, wife of President Kim Dae-Jung, visited Beijing to attend a ceremony to commemorate the publication of the Chinese edition of her book, ¡°Prayer for Tomorrow.¡±

The paper said that Lee met Sun at a reception, ¡°Night of Korea-China Tourism Friendship,¡± hosted by the Korea National Tourism Organization on June 29, one day after the ceremony, and adopted her as daughter. Sun attended the function in her capacity of a ¡°Korea Tourism Ambassador for 2000.¡±

Introduced Sun¡¯s activities as the ambassador, Lee praised her when Culture-Tourism Minister Park Jie-Won suggested Lee adopt Sun as daughter. Lee, saying that she was missing a daughter because she has only three sons, adopted her as daughter, according to the newspaper
