Baekdu Dispute

Attempting to include the Korean history of Gojoseon to Goguryeo and Balhae into its own through Northeast Asia Project, China lighted the flame for the 6th Winter Asian Games to be held next January at China’s Changchum in Jilin province on the morning of September 6 at Cheonji on Mt. Baekdu (Mt. Changbai in Chinese). By claiming Mt. Baekdu, the event was seen as another attempt to erase Korea’s history in the region.
