Samsung C&T has acquired construction projects worth 1.3 trillion won (1.133 billion U.S. dollars) in Singapore and Malaysia during the past month, as it is stepping up its advance into Southeast Asia.

According to Samsung C&T on Wednesday, the company acquired a 320-million-dollar project to build a court building in Singapore late last month, before becoming the contractor of a 230-million-dollar project to construct Supura Office Building in Malaysia. The company also won a 610-million-dollar project to construct the T 303 section of Singapore Subway Thomson route on Friday last week.

As mega projects in the Middle East have declined amid low oil prices, the company is apparently diversifying its markets to emerging markets including Southeast Asia. “We will continue to capture the Southeast Asian market by focusing on strategic projects including subways and high-rise buildings," a company source said.
