Typically known as the recreation area or the racetrack, Seongdong district in the capital city of Seoul used to be a cluster of factories back in the 1960s. The area grew urbanized rapidly as large-sized residential housings and shops streamed into it. Seongdong is recently emerging as a new hub of residence and tourism, with high-end apartment complexes such as "Galleria Foret" and "Trimage" introduced into the area.
The emerging hub of tourism is going to house a 47-storied five star hotel soon. The Seongdong District Office announced on Thursday that it approved a business project issued by Booyoung Housing Co. to build "Ttukseom Booyoung Tourism Hotel." The five-star hotel will be built on the premises of 19,000 sq. meters with eight underground stories and 47 stories over the ground, housing 1,107 rooms. Construction will begin next month and be finished by December 2019.
