Lee Bo-mee (27) has achieved the best results this year as she has secured seven wins in the Japanese LPGA Tour with the most prize money. Her achievement is attributable to her caddie Shigenori Shimizu (41) as well.
Shimizu, who formed partnership with Lee in 2013, had a nickname of top prize earner maker as he worked for both male and female players who earned the most prize money in 2007.
For the past three years, Shimizu has helped Lee secure 11 wins. It is honor to serve as caddie for Lee Bo-mee, who has changed the history of Japanese female golf, he told the reporter at Miyoshi Country Club in Nagoya, Japan on Sunday.
In order to familiarize herself with Japanese golf courses, which is rather narrow, Lee Bo-mee has practiced approach shots countless times. It seemed to me that she was practicing too much. Besides, she worked hard to learn Japanese, which she barely spoke three years ago. Now she speaks Japanese fluently like a native speaker," Shimizu said. Lee is popular here in Japan not only because she excels in golf but also because she smiles and gladly gives her autograph to her fans whenever.
If Lee feels nervous even a bit, she tends to make a mistake. So I try to help ease her anxiety," he said. One of his know-hows is to tell her It is okay in Korean. It is like panacea for her," he said. "I wish to stand by Lee until she loses vigor. It would be great if she and I can participate in next years Olympics."
