A foreign employee who entered Samsung Electro-Mechanics early this year has become famous. His name is Sergio Flores who came from Guatemala. He had appeared in KBS` entertainment program "Beauties` Chat."
Flores became famous not because he is a foreigner or appeared at a TV show. He is Samsung Electro-Mechanic`s first foreign employee who passed Samsung`s official GSAT (Global Samsung Aptitude Test) and interview. He is a graduate from Seoul National University`s electrical engineering department.
Flores is currently engaged in circuit design duty. His Korean is fluent and he is very familiar with Korean culture. He speaks Korean 100 percent at work and has received fresh employee training and other educations along with Korean employees.
Interestingly, he had aspired to join Samsung since he was a middle school student. Highly interested in IT and science, this smart man from Middle East was attracted to Samsung`s mobile phones and TVs, and continues to study corporate Samsung. His interest in Samsung has now expanded to Korea.
After graduating high school, Flores came to Korea for study, and after graduating a Korean university he entered the very company that makes major parts of IT products. His dream is to become Samsung`s first head of Samsung`s overseas office, more specifically the head of Samsung`s Central and Latin America subsidiary.
It has become natural for Korean companies to hire local employees at overseas offices. Flores` case suggests that more foreign employees will join Korea`s conglomerates via their open hiring process. This will be more pronounced as long as Korean companies maintain their influential global status.
