Hyundai Automotive Group Chairman Chung Mong-koo said during his visit to Europe on Thursday (local time) that Hyundai Motor will seek to boost sales in Europe by introducing the new version of its luxury sedan Genesis to become a leader in the market.

Chung made the remark during a visit to Hyundai Motor`s European sales and marketing headquarters in Offenbach, Germany, noting that the new Genesis shows the level of Hyundai`s technological advancement and gets abreast of best-selling large sedans in Europe in terms of quality and performance. The chairman instructed company officials to set up effective marketing strategies for the Genesis so that the large sedan will help the automaker instill a new perception of Hyundai Motor among European consumers and become a first-class brand.

Chung`s remarks are interpreted as his will to revive the Genesis`s success in the U.S. market that greatly helped enhance the automaker`s brand recognition in the world`s largest car market. Since its launch in the U.S. in July 2008, the Genesis has been sold a total of 93,631 units, while being named the "North American Car of the Year" in January 2009. Hyundai plans to promote the Genesis through various advertisement and marketing campaigns and expand its sale networks, starting next year, when the new Genesis will be launched in North America and Europe.
