Queen Munjeong’s seal returns to Korea in 62 years

The seal of Princess Munjeong from the Joseon Dynasty, which a U.S. soldier took with him during the Korean War, is set to return to Korea for the first time in 62 years. Rep. Ahn Min-seok of the main opposition Democratic Party, Rev. Hyemun, head of the cultural property repatriation initiative, and Prof. Kim Jun-hyeok of Kyung Hee University, announced this at a press conference in Los Angeles, as they visited Los Angeles Museum in the U.S. State of California on Thursday. Ahn said, “It has been agreed that we will have the seal of Queen Munjeong repatriated, and repatriation will be made through authorities between Korea and the U.S. in two weeks.”
