New plants found in Gangwon Province


The National Institute of Biological Resources under the Environment Ministry on Thursday said it found 16 kinds of rare plants including nymphaeaceae (endangered), ggasilgasae ssukbujaengi (not yet reported in academia), leguminosae (unrecorded in Korea), iridaceae (endangered) (from left) in six lagoons including Lake Cheonjin in Gangwon Province. A lagoon is a lake separated from the sea by sand islands or others. Korea has 18 lagoons.
